While plant diseases and insects are responsible for many injury symptoms observed in-season, there are other causes of injury that may or may not negatively impact yield.
Some of the most common injury symptoms observed in dry beans that are not related to diseases or insects are:
- bronzing caused by exposure to ozone
- sunscald
- bald heads
- frost and temperature stress after planting
- frost prior to harvest
- hail
- soil compaction
- poor seed quality
